Did you know that Alabama’s Delta Region is home to over 300 species of birds? At Birding Camp, Budding ornithologists will get to experience the wide diversity of avian life in our area! Campers will learn the basics of birding, from using binoculars, to identifying birds by sight and sound! Each day will focus on learning a different group of birds, including gulls, wading birds, and our resident songbirds, with plenty of time each day to get out in the field and see the species for themselves. Campers will also learn to make bird houses and bird feeders, and participate in bird themed games and crafts.

Budding Naturalist Camp (Ages 8 – 14) – $220.00
Session Dates:
June 22-26

A camp perfect for kids who bring a passion for wildlife to the table. This camp will focus on exploring the flora and fauna of the delta, with a focus on the species often missed by those who don’t look down or look closely. Activities will include micro-fishing, live trapping small animals, nature walks, observing the plant life, bug hunts, and much more.

Expedition Delta: 1807 (Ages 6-12) – $240.00
Session date:
July 6-10

An immersive camp experience where campers take on the role of explorers sent on a fictional expedition by President Thomas Jefferson to explore the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. Each activity carries a significance to the story of their adventure. Archery becomes hunting for their next meal, fire making becomes essential to surviving the night, and birdwatching is now cataloguing the avian life of the Delta for science. Each expeditionary will be issued a coonskin cap and toy flintlock rifle as part of their gear (for use during camp). If the mission is a success, a very significant person may pay the crew a visit!

Slime and Scales Camp (Ages 6-12) – $220.00
Session date:
June 9-13

The perfect camp for kids who love all things reptilian or amphibian in nature! Campers will get to explore the woods and waters for frogs, learn about the astonishing diversity of turtles in our area, meet our ambassadors in the discovery hall, and participate in amphibian and reptile themed games and crafts.
