Expedition Lanark is a full day summer camp that provides hands-on, outdoor educational activities that teach natural resource stewardship, develop leadership skills, and build character.

Camp Descriptions
All camp sessions are co-ed and full day, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; with the exception of Tadpole Camp.
Tadpole Camp (Age 5) – $120.00
Session dates: June 2-6 | June 16-20
Get your little one ready for a summer full of adventure! Let Tadpole Camp be your child’s first camp experience! This unique ½ day camp designed especially for 5 year olds (must be 5 years of age by the start of camp) will introduce your mini-explorer to the outdoors in a safe, hands-on way. Reserve your child’s spot soon though as space is filling fast. Lunch is provided from 12:00-12:30 p.m. Tadpole camp is from 8:00am-12:30pm. Extended care is not available for Tadpole campers.
Nature Navigators (Ages 6 & 7) – $215.00

Ever wondered what lives in a pond? Find out this summer during our aquatic round-up program! Get ready to experience Alabama’s natural resources hands-on! Campers will learn about water, plants, wildlife and geology while getting down and dirty. Daily activities include but are not limited to fishing, hiking, outdoor games, observing and collecting wildlife, crafts and more. Come prepared to get wet because creek explorations are a must in the summer sun.

Have you ever had mud on your face? Mudding in the creek is always on the list at Expedition Lanark summer camp! Campers will enjoy Lanark’s outdoors while fishing, hiking, and other camper favorite activities. Get wet and dirty in Still Creek while exploring wildlife habitat and competing in the sand castle building competition. Top off your week with water wars with our camp counselors and shooting bows and arrows with your friends.

Ever experienced fish slime? Lanark’s stocked ponds give our camp kids an excellent chance to get up close and personal with catfish, bream, and bass! Participants will experience the thrill of nature while learning about conservation and natural resources through hands-on activities. Activities vary each week to captivate repeat campers as well as one-timers. Camper favorites include creek hikes, fishing, water boat races, outdoor games and animal presentations. Get ready for the thrill of unlimited outdoor fun!
High Adventure (Ages 12-15) – $235.00
Session date: July 7-11
Take a walk on the wild side and get ready to spend some extended (or quality) time outdoors! From spending time outdoors with all types of wildlife to kayaking, canoeing, as well as safety, this camp is always a fun time! During this week we will focus on the basics of canoeing and kayaking along with a few advanced techniques. Lunch will be provided each day of camp including the kayak trip. Be sure to bring your own snacks for the Friday kayak trip. Life jackets, canoes and kayaks provided. If you love watersports this is the camp session for you! Pickup for this session is 3:30pm Friday unless otherwise noted.
ARTventure (Ages 8-12) – $265.00

Let’s Paint! Get ready to channel your inner artist with this camp!
We have combined the best of two worlds with this camp Art & Nature! Join us for an expedition like no other. The ANC has partnered with Kasey Hope of P’zazz Art Studio of Prattville AL. During this collaborative camp we will spend the morning mixing art and nature and the afternoon having some fun in the sun! But don’t worry your child will get to experience all of the normal camp activities after lunch!
Gross Out Camp Sponsored by Fresh Air Family (Ages 6-9) – $235.00
Session date: July 21-25 FULL
Yuck…if it’s gross we’ve got it! This award-winning science camp focuses on hands-on biology. Activities include: creek stomping expeditions for macroinvertebrates, meet-a-tree style scientific observation, and creativity such as making your own bird-poop paint (not from birds). Kids will meet live snakes in a reptile program. Learning has never been this much fun! Sponsored by Fresh Air Family.
Fishing Fundamentals (Ages 10-15) – $235.00
Session date: June 9-13 | July 14-18 FULL
From the tackle to the bait and all the fishing in between, get ready to have some fun catching bass, bream and catfish! Choosing the best bait; mastering proper casting techniques and taking the “big one” off the hook are part of this adventure. You can also catch a fish with your own hand-tied fly! Bring your own tackle and compete in the Friday Fishing Challenge!
Multiple children = $10.00 discount per child for all camp sessions.

Camp Facilities
Lanark, located in Millbrook, Alabama, (just 10 minutes from Montgomery) contains five distinct destinations: AWF Headquarters, Historic Lanark, Lanark Pavilion, NaturePlex and the Alabama Nature Center.
