Middle Bay Boat Company Wins Best Overall at AWF Gulf Coast Wild Game Cook-Off

Fresh Florida Snapper Almondine, Uncle Tom’s Banded Dove Bombs and Alabama Dirty Pilaf were just a few of the tasty dishes found at the Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off and Silent Auction last Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at The BLUEGILL Restaurant! With 20 cook teams and close to 1300 members and guests in attendance, Middle Bay Boat Company consisting of Jack Crosby, Chandler Lunceford, Will Easterling and James Esfeller captured top prize of “Best Overall,” with their scrumptious Colorado Stuffed Elk Loin w/ Jim Beam Beurre Blanc. Alabama Wildlife Federation is proud to have Briggs Equipment, South Alabama’s authorized Hyster and Yale forklift dealer serve as the lead sponsor of this year’s Cook-Off to help raise funds and awareness for the conservation of Alabama wildlife and natural resources.

While Middle Bay Boat Company won Best Overall, they certainly weren’t the only team serving up good food at the event. Other winners included:

Fish Division: First Place – Delta Waterfowl consisting of Kyle Cornelison cooking Shrimp Boulettes; Second Place – Fowl Mouth consisting of Jamie Roussos cooking Crabby Pete’s Snapper; Third Place – Middle Bay Boat Company consisting of Jack Crosby, Chandler Lunceford, Will Easterling and James Esfeller cooking Ram Powell Yellowfish Nachos.

Fowl Division: First Place – Mobile County Wildlife & Conservation Association consisting of Tom Leatherbury, Jr., Sonny Kearley, Patrick Kelly and Wesley Williams cooking Uncle Tom’s Banded Dove Bombs; Second Place – Thames Batre consisting of Philip Ison, Trip Casteix, Peyton Mattei and Taylor Beville cooking Cajun Thunder Chicken; Third Place – Middle Bay Boat Company consisting of Jack Crosby, Chandler Lunceford, Will Easterling and James Esfeller cooking Fried Quail Salad.

Game Division: First Place – Middle Bay Boat Company consisting of Jack Crosby, Chandler Lunceford, Will Easterling and James Esfeller cooking Colorado Stuffed Elk Loin w/ Jim Beam Beurre Blanc; Second Place – Mobile Gas consisting of John Bonner, Chris Driskell, Joe Hocklander, Mitchelle Maldonado, Chris Mims, Gary Nolen, Madalyn Reeves, Joyce Russell and Chris Wiley cooking Alabama Dirty Pilaf; Third Place – Mobile County Wildlife & Conservation Association consisting of Tom Leatherbury, Jr., Sonny Kearley, Patrick Kelly and Wesley Williams cooking Coon Boar Burrito.

Best Presentation went to Mobile Gas while 1st Community Bank won Best Presentation Runner-Up.

Briggs Equipment, South Alabama’s authorized Hyster and Yale forklift dealer People’s Choice Award went to Delta Waterfowl.
