The Lumbee Smokers Wins Best Overall at AWF Morgan County Wild Game Cook-Off

Pecan Glazed Catfish, Bank Street “Duck Bomb” and Trotter Quesadilla were just a few of the tasty dishes found at the Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off and Silent Auction last Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Ingalls Harbor in Decatur! With 24 cook teams and over 725 members and guests in attendance, The Lumbee Smokers consisting of Bracy Cummings, Jr., Bracy Cummings, Sr., Derrick Cummings and Tim Borden captured top prize of “Best Overall,” with their scrumptious Deere for Days.

While The Lumbee Smokers won Best Overall, they certainly weren’t the only team serving up good food at the event. Other winners included:

Fish Division: First Place – Hooks & Horns consisting of Chris Alexander, Ray Alexander, Jane Alexander and Hailee Alexander cooking Pecan Glazed Catfish; Second Place – Fowl Play consisting of RJ McKee cooking Smoked Crawl Snapper; Third Place – The Lumbee Smokers consisting of Bracy Cummings, Jr., Bracy Cummings, Sr., Derrick Cummings and Tim Borden cooking Under the Sea.

Fowl Division: First Place – Bank Street Grillers consisting of Scott Bryant, Matt Bryant and Sherry Bryant cooking Bank Street “Duck Bomb”; Second Place – Plush Deer consisting of Jody Witt, Ryan Waller, Allen McCall and Thomas Gray cooking Unknown Fowl; Third Place – The Lumbee Smokers consisting of Bracy Cummings, Jr., Bracy Cummings, Sr., Derrick Cummings and Tim Borden cooking The Bearded Bowl.

Youth Division: First Place – Jr. Rib Ticklers consisting of Arianna Frazier, Coral Frazier, Aubrey Frazier and Shelby Frazier cooking Tilapia Delight; Second Place – Kelsoe Boys consisting of Keith Kelsoe, Tucker Kelsoe and Spencer Kelsoe cooking Deer Old Slaw Dog; Third Place – J Man consisting of Jeffery Wynn cooking Grit Your Teeth Shrimp.

Potluck Division: First Place – Lumbee Squaws consisting of Anita Cummings, Mandy Borden, Beth Raley and Kris Raley cooking Deer John; Second Place – Wilderness Maniacs consisting of Steve Bryant and Tom Adams cooking Southwest Bison Chili; Third Place – Hog Heaven consisting of Jody Wynn cooking Deer O’ Cabbage.

Best Presentation went to Hook & Horns while JMS Russel Metals won Best Presentation Runner-Up
